In addition to manual payment methods, you can also offer online payment methods like PayPal or credit card to your customers. In this case, the payment providers execute the entire payment process on your behalf and then pass the money on to you.

Online payment setup
Your online payment may be powered by Stripe. In that case, you will need to follow the instructions in your cockpit under Settings → Shop to set up online payment for your website. For any questions that are not answered in this article, you can reach out to Stripe via your Stripe dashboard.
If your online payment is offered by a different provider, reach out to them with any questions. This includes questions about how to set up online payment initially, deciding which methods to offer or the availability of different methods. You can find the contact information in the sidebar of your cockpit, under Help & Support or log in to your payment provider’s online portal to learn more.
How to activate online payment methods
After you have set up online payment for your website, you can add and activate online payment methods as follows:

If your online payment methods are powered by Stripe, you will need to activate PayPal and Klarna in your Stripe account before activating these methods in your cockpit. For further information, refer to Activate online payment with Klarna via Stripe and Activate online payment with PayPal via Stripe.- In the sidebar of the cockpit, navigate to Settings → Shop.
- Select Payment.
A list of payment methods appears at the top of the page or underneath the instructions.Note
Payment methods that have already been activated have the status activated in checkout. This means that these payment methods are all set up and available for your customers at checkout. - In the upper right corner, select Add payment method.
A list appears that shows available payment methods that have not yet been activated.Note
If the Add payment method button is greyed out, you have already added all payment methods that are currently available to you. If you want to add further methods, contact your provider. - Select Activate next to your desired payment method.
The Edit payment method view opens, allowing you to edit the details of the payment method. For further information, refer to the section How to edit the details of online payment methods. - Select Activate in the upper or lower right corner.
Note
Depending on your provider, you may need to connect a payment method before it can be activated. In that case, select Connect and follow the instructions of the payment provider, then select Activate.
You have activated the payment method. It can now be used by your customers to pay for their order.
To activate more payment methods, repeat the steps above.
How to edit the details of online payment methods
- In the sidebar of the cockpit, navigate to Settings → Shop.
- Select Payment.
A list of payment methods appears at the top of the page or underneath the instructions. - Select the name of the payment method you would like to edit.
- Make the desired edits. You can edit payment method‘s name, description and/or payment-related information. If you do not make any changes, the current name will be kept, and no description or payment-related information will be displayed.

Name
This name is displayed in the checkout process when customers select a payment method. It will also appear on the order confirmation page and in order-related emails. -
Description shown in checkout
If you enter a text here, it will be displayed underneath the name of the payment method as an additional information for your customers. -
Payment-related information on invoice
If you enter a text here, it will be displayed along with the name of the payment method on invoices.

- Select Save.
You have edited the details of the payment method.

Currently, it is not possible to add fees or discounts for payment methods.How to change the order of payment methods
All activated payment methods are displayed to your customers in the order you see in your cockpit. You can change the order as follows:
- In the sidebar of the cockpit, navigate to Settings → Shop.
- Select Payment.
A list of payment methods appears at the top of the page or underneath the instructions. - Use drag-and-drop to adjust the order of the payment methods.
You have changed the order of your payment methods.
How to deactivate/disconnect online payment methods
Depending on your provider, you will need to either deactivate or disconnect online payment methods, if you decide to no longer offer them in your shop.
- In the sidebar of the cockpit, navigate to Settings → Shop.
- Select Payment.
A list of payment methods appears at the top of the page or underneath the instructions. - Select the payment method you no longer want to offer.
- Select Deactivate/Disconnect.
You have deactivated or disconnected the payment method. It is no longer available to your customers at checkout.
To enable a payment method again later, you can always re-add it. For further information, refer to the section How to activate online payment methods.

If your online payment methods are powered by Stripe and you no longer want to offer online payment at all, you can also disconnect all online payment methods at the same time. To do so, select the disconnect from Stripe link in your payment settings.
