You can offer your customers two options to receive their ordered items: shipping and pickup. In this article, you’ll learn how to process the shipping of an order and keep an eye on its shipping status. If a customer has ordered the items to be picked up, you can learn more in the article Process the pickup of an order.

Get an overview of unshipped orders
An order for which the customer has selected Shipping can have the status unshipped, ready to ship, partially shipped, order canceled, shipped, delivered, returned, or partially returned. The status of each order is displayed on the view Order overview:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Orders.
- Check the Shipping / Pickup status column. Here you can see the current shipping / pickup status of the order:
This column allows you to see directly which orders have already been shipped and which orders still need to be shipped.
Details of the order
If you'd like to have a closer look at an order or process a shipping further, you will find the necessary information by selecting the respective order on the view Order overview. This opens a page with detailed information about the order.
The four cards to the right provide you with all the information you'll need to ship an order:
- Customer info (e.g. customer name)
- Shipping address
- Billing address
- Timeline (with information such as when the order has been placed, when its status was changed, links to order documents that were already created, etc.)
Selecting the pencil icon on one of the first three cards allows you to edit the information.
On the Order details card, you can find further relevant information, such as:
- Payment and shipping / pickup statuses
- Buttons to edit the payment and shipping / pickup status
- An option to create, download and email an invoice
- Ordered items
- Shipping and payment method chosen by the customer
Furthermore, your customers can add a comment during the checkout. This comment will also be displayed in that area, and might be relevant for your shipping process (e.g. "Please do not deliver on Saturdays.").
Process the shipping
Now that you've collected all the information you need to ship the order, it's time to process the shipping further. While doing so, you can track the shipping status of the respective order in your cockpit. Depending on your shipping process, you can either mark it as Ready to ship, Shipped or Delivered.
Mark an order as ready to ship
Before marking an order as shipped, you can mark it as ready to ship. This might make sense, for example, if you have already retrieved the item from your warehouse and packed it correctly, but haven’t handed it over to the shipping carrier yet. By marking the order as ready to ship, you can document for yourself, your colleagues or employees that the first steps are already done.
Here's how you mark an order as ready to ship:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Orders.
- From the Order overview, select the order you'd like to mark as ready to ship.
- On the Order details card, select Process shipping.
- You are prompted to the view Process shipping. Here you have several options:
- Select Mark as ready to ship (1).
- By selecting the checkbox Send confirmation email to customer (2), an email will be sent to the customer informing them that you started the shipping process for their order. This email will only be sent once you've saved your entries. If you do not want to send this email, disable the checkbox.
- You can add a tracking link in the Tracking link field (3). This link will be displayed in the timeline of your order. If you don't have the tracking link yet, you can also add it later on when marking the order as shipped.
- You can add an internal comment in the Internal comment field (4). This comment will be displayed in the timeline of your order, but won't be visible for your customer.
- Select Save.
Note
Once you've saved your entries, the packing slip for the order will be automatically created. You'll find the packing slip in the timeline of the order.Note
Currently, you can only mark all items of an order as ready to ship, but not individual items. The order has now been marked as ready to ship. You can mark it as shipped at any time.
Mark an order as shipped
You have two options to mark an order as shipped. These options heavily depend on your workflow: you can either mark an order as shipped after you've marked the order as ready to ship or you can mark it as shipped directly.
Let's first take a look at the option to mark an order as shipped after you've marked the order as ready to ship.
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Orders.
- From the Order overview, select the order you'd like to mark as shipped.
- On the Order details card, select Mark as shipped.
- You are prompted to the view Mark as shipped. On this view, you can again enter the tracking link (2), and an internal comment (4). Furthermore, you can decide if you'd like to inform the customer via email that you shipped the order (1) or download the packing slip (3).
- Select Mark as shipped.
The second option (directly marking the order as shipped) is similar to those of marking an order as ready to ship:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Orders.
- From the Order overview, select the order you'd like to mark as shipped.
- On the Order details card, select Process shipping.
- You are prompted to the view Process shipping. Here you have several options:
- Select the Mark as shipped radio button (1).
- By selecting the checkbox Send confirmation email to customer (2), an email will be sent to the customer informing them that you shipped their order. This email will only be sent once you've saved your entries.
- You can add a tracking link in the Tracking link field (3). This link will be displayed in the timeline of your order.
- You can add an internal comment in the Internal comment field (4). This comment will be displayed in the timeline of your order, but will not be visible for your customer.
- Select Save.
Note
Once you've saved your entries, the packing slip for the order will be automatically created. You'll find the packing slip in the timeline of the order.Note

Mark an order as delivered
An order that was previously marked as shipped, can be marked as delivered. Delivered means that the shipping carrier has handed the ordered items over to the customer.
Here's how you mark an order as delivered:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Orders.
- From the Order overview, select the order you'd like to mark as delivered.
- On the Order details card, select Mark as delivered.
- You are prompted to the view Mark as delivered. Here, you can add an internal comment in the Internal comment field. This comment will be displayed in the timeline of your order, but will not be visible for your customer.
- Select Mark as delivered.
The order has been marked as delivered.
