Caution
Depending on the selected package, the cart functionality may not be available. If you are unable to activate this feature, you may need to change your website package first. Please contact your provider for assistance. You would like to create a website, but you're not yet ready to set up a whole online shop? That's okay! You can decide if you would like to allow visitors to make purchases on your website or not. By default, this option is deactivated. That doesn't mean that you can't add products to your website. You can still use the whole feature set of our cockpit and, for example, promote products that you sell in your local store. But you can also decide not to display any products at all.
Note
As long as the cart functionality is deactivated, all other settings on the card Cart & checkout settings are automatically greyed out and can't be selected. Once you activate the cart functionality, you can also edit these fields. When you are ready to expand your website and sell products online, here's how to activate the cart functionality:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Settings > Shop.
- Select Cart & checkout.
- Navigate to the card Cart & checkout settings.
- Activate the toggle Allow visitors to make purchases on your website.
- Select Save.
You have now activated the option for your visitors to make purchases on your website. That's great! But what does that mean for your website? Let's have a look at an example.
That's how a product page looks like with the deactivated cart functionality:
If you activate the cart functionality, the page will look like this:
As you can see, you can now find a cart icon in the header of the website. Furthermore, the Add to cart button, the quantity field, and the stock level are displayed. If you add information about the delivery time to a product, this will be shown to your visitors as well. Now, your visitors get more information about the product and are able to place orders.
