You'd like to avoid orders with a very low total amount as the profit wouldn’t make up for the time and effort spent on processing the order? Setting a minimum order value can be the answer to such issues. Here's how you can do so:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Settings > Shop.
- Select Cart & checkout.
- Navigate to the card Cart & checkout settings.
- In the input field Minimum order value, enter the amount you'd like to set as your minimum order value.
Note
You can only edit the input field Minimum order value if the toggle Allow visitors to make purchases on your website is activated. - Select Save.
You have now introduced a minimum order value.
So, how does this setting affect your customers? Here's an example: If you enter 10 Euro as your minimum order value, a customer who only added a bottle of wine for 8.80 Euro to their cart won't be able to start the checkout process as the button Checkout is disabled. Instead, they'll get the following notification when selecting their cart:
Note
The shipping costs as well as the discount of redeemed coupon codes will not be taken into account to meet the minimum order value.Once the customer increases the total amount of their cart so that it's above 10 Euro (either by adding more products or by increasing the quantity of the product that's already included in the cart), they'll be able to start the checkout process as usual.
