According to the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), your customers have the right to request the deletion of their personal data. Deleting customers might also help to clean up your customer database.
In any case, this is how to do so:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Customers.
- Select the name of the customer you would like to delete from the list.
- Scroll down to the bottom and select Delete customer.
A confirmation dialog pops up informing you about the consequences of the deletion. - Select Delete customer.
The customer was irreversibly deleted from the Customer overview. Thus, if you deleted a customer who you have manually added via the cockpit and who is not related to any order placed on your website, all data related to the customer was deleted.
If you deleted a customer who placed orders on your website - either as a guest or as a registered and logged in customer - the related data was deleted from the Customer overview but any legally required information related to orders placed by this customer will still be found in the Orders section of your cockpit.
