Interacting with your customers and keeping an overview of your customer base is an important part of an online business. That's why you will find a dedicated Customers area in your cockpit. In this article, you will learn more about this area and which information it provides.

Where to find your customers
In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Customers. You will be forwarded to the Customer overview. This is the central place for managing your customers. You will find all customers in this list - the ones that you have added, as well as the ones connected to orders you've received via your website. The sorting of the customers is based on the date of the last order (descending). If two or more customers share the same order date, these customers are sorted based on their last name.
Your customers have the option to register during the checkout process. This allows them to log in with their customer account when placing their next order to experience a faster checkout as their address data will already be pre-filled. Registered customers have the status Registered in your cockpit. They will only be included in the list once, no matter how many orders they have placed. The related orders will then be displayed in the detailed view for the customer. Please note that this only applies for orders placed after the registration and that are placed while the customer is logged in to their customer account. Otherwise, the orders will be handled as an order of a customer who is not registered (learn more about that in the following paragraph).
Customers can also decide against a registration during the checkout process and place their order as a guest. In that case, they will have the status Not registered. In the list on the Customer overview page, you will find one entry per order related to a customer who did not register. Even if the same customer would order twice or more on your website, you will find one entry per order as long as the customer is not registered and logged in to their customer account during checkout. This way the privacy of your customers is respected and their data is only handled to each customer's desired extent.
Optionally, you can also add customers manually in your cockpit. These customers will also have the status Registered but they are not connected to any orders placed on your website and will therefore be shown at the end of the list on the Customer overview page.
If a customer placed at least one test order, they will be marked with an orange dot right next to the customer name - regardless of their customer status.
How to get detailed information about a customer
To take a closer look at a specific customer, select Customers in the sidebar of your cockpit and then select the name of the customer you would like to view or edit.
In the detailed view, you can see all relevant information concerning the customer and related orders. This is also the place where you can edit the customer details or this customer’s billing and shipping address. Additionally, you can leave an internal comment per customer. That way you can, for example, mark reliable customers, mention their preferred communication channel, or add additional information that should be taken into account when communicating with the customer.
With the help of the Customer timeline card you will always be able to check back on the history of the customer, for example address changes, placed orders, or changes to the internal comment for that customer.
The Order history card serves as an overview of the orders placed by the customer. At the top of the Order history card you will find a summary of all orders (including test orders, canceled orders, and returned items) displaying the total order amount, the number of orders, and the average order value. Below the summary, you will see a list of the last three orders placed by the customer. If you select an order number, you will be forwarded to the respective order and can manage the order as usual. If you select View order overview for this customer, you will be forwarded to your order overview filtered by the customer number of the respective customer. Thus, you will see all orders placed by the customer with that customer number.
