What are tags?
You can compare tags to buzzwords or key words to organize your products. You can choose any word you'd like as a tag. A tag is not shown to the visitors of your website. It's only purpose is to improve the product and category handling.
How to use tags
You can add tags to each product. Here's how:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- From the Product overview, select the product you'd like to provide with a tag.
- Navigate to the Organisation card.
- Add one or more tags in the Tags input field.
- Select Save.
In the Tags input field, you should add all tags that might be relevant for your online business and that fit to the product.
Here's an example:
If you sell accessories, this handbag might be one of your products:
According to your online business concept, you could now add the following tags:
- handbag
- summer
- women
- red
Here's an example what it could look like in your cockpit:
And that's what happened here:
When selecting the Tags input field, a list with all existing tags is displayed. You can simply select the tags that fit to the product. In the example, the tags handbag, women, and summer have already been used for other products and thus appear in the list. The tag red hasn't been used before, and thus didn't appear in the list. In these cases, you need to add a new tag:
- Enter your desired tag in the Tags input field.
- Select + Add "tag".
How to delete a tag
You can always delete a tag from a product. Here's how:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- From the Product overview, select the product with the tag you'd like to delete.
- Navigate to the Organisation card.
- Select the cross next to the tag you'd like to delete.
- Select Save.
How tags and categories relate to each other
Categories can either be created manually or automatically. For the automatic creation, you can choose between different criteria, such as price, specific manufacturers, and/or tags. So, a good tag management facilitates the creation of automatic categories.
Just to give you an example:
Imagine, the end of summer is approaching and you'd like to promote all summer handbags in order to get them sold before winter. You could now create an automatic category called Summer Stars that includes all products with the tags handbag and summer.
How to create such a category and why you should make use of them, is further explained in the article "Add automatic categories".
