Automatic categories can be extremely practical! Especially, if you have a wide range of products you need to continuously organize, or for categories which always have the same conditions (example: products for less than €5).
For each automatic category, you can define certain conditions, such as tags, price or manufacturer, by which products are assigned to this category automatically. In contrast to manual categories, newly added products which match the conditions are automatically assigned to the corresponding category without any manual effort. On the other hand, this also means that products stay in an automatic category until you change the conditions of this category.

How to add an automatic category
- In your cockpit, navigate to Products > Categories.
- Select Add category.
- Enter a name for the category.
- Automatic assignment is selected by default. You only need to choose the criteri for the automatic selection. These can be specific tags, price and/or manufacturers. If you don't choose a criterion, all products will be added to the category.
- After selecting your criteria, check the products assigned to the category on the Products of this category card below. Adapt the selection criteria, if needed.
- Select Save.
How to use selection criteria
Filter products by tags
Define tags the products of the category should be labeled with. You can define whether the products necessarily need to match all or at least one of the defined tags.
Note
You can only choose tags that you already added to a product.Let me give you an example:
Example category: "Red wine from Tuscany"
If you'd like to group all red wines from Tuscany in one category, products need to be labeled with both tags, red wine and tuscan.
Example category: "Furniture"
If you'd like to create a category which groups furniture, products can have tags like chair, couch, lamp, table or any other furniture-related tag that fits to your product range.
Filter products by price
You can group products of a specific price range, e.g. products between €0 and €10. An empty From field means that the range starts at €0. An empty To field on the other hand means that the range continues infinitely.
The following example shows how to filter for products from €0 to €10:
Filter products by manufacturer
Maybe you want to create a category that only includes products of one or multiple specific manufacturers. In this case, you can filter by manufacturer. Simply enter the manufacturers of the products that should be taken into account. If you enter more than one manufacturer, all products of one of these manufacturers are included.
On the detailed view of a product, you can define the manufacturer on the Inventory tracking card:
Combine multiple criteria
Multiple selection criteria, whether these are tags, price or manufacturer criteria, can be combined. This further restricts the selection of products. This way, you can e.g. create a category that only contains tuscan red wine above €15:
Add a product to an existing category
There is nearly no manual effort to add a product to an existing category. It will be added automatically, if you:
- Add a tag to the product that is part of a category based on tags.
- Enter a price to the product that is in the price range of a category based on price.
- Add a manufacturer to the product that is included in a category based on manufacturers.
In all cases, the new assigned category will be displayed on the Organisationcard of the product under Automatic categories.
