Add a new value
Imagine you've already created a variation product for a T-shirt which is available in red and green. Furthermore, it is available in the sizes S, M, L, and XL. A few weeks after the creation, a new color becomes available and you would like to offer the T-shirt in the color blue as well. In situations like this, you can add a new value to your variation product:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- Select the variation product to which you would like to add the new value.
- In the upper right corner, select Manage variations.
You are prompted to the view Manage variations where you can see the attributes and corresponding values that you've entered when creating the variation product. - Select the Values input field of the attribute for which you would like to add the value.
- Enter your desired value, e.g. "Blue".
- Select + Add "your_value", e.g. + Add "Blue".
- In the lower right corner of the view, select OK.
- In the upper right corner of the page, select Save to save your changes.
The variation product is now also available in variations with your desired value.
In our example, we would now also offer the T-Shirt in blue-S, blue-M, blue-L, and blue-XL. If you individually manage pricing, inventory and images for your variations, remember that you might need to edit the respective settings for the newly created variations.
Note
You can only add new values to already existing attributes. It is not possible to add a whole new attribute to the variation product. In that case, you would need to create a new variation product.Edit an attribute

Determine the order of attributes
Imagine you've already created a variation product for your T-shirt which is available in different colors and sizes. During the creation of the variation product, you didn't think too much about the order of the respective attributes when you added them to your variation product. But now you would prefer for your visitors to first define the Color of the T-Shirt and afterwards the Size of it. Currently, the order differs on our example website:
In situations like these, you can change the order of the attributes:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- Select the variation product that contains the attributes you would like to order.
- In the upper right corner, select Manage variations.
- You’ll then see the attributes and corresponding values that you've entered when creating the variation product. Select
next to the attribute you would like to move and drag and drop it to the desired position.
- In the lower right corner of the modal, select OK.
- In the upper right corner of the page, select Save to save your changes.
The order of the attributes on the website has been changed.
Furthermore, the order of the variations listed in Pricing and Inventory tables depends on the order of the attributes. If we, for example, decided that the attribute Color should be first and Size second, our example T-Shirt tables would start with the variations Green-S, Green-M, Green-L, Green-XL, Red-S, Red-L, and so on.
If we decided to order the attributes the other way around (Size first, Color second), the example T-Shirt tables would start with the variations S-Green, S-Red, M-Green, M-Red, and so on.
Determine the order of values
Imagine you've already created a variation product for your T-shirt which is available in different colors and sizes. During the creation of the variation product, you've accidentally added the values for your attribute Size in the following order: S, M, XL, L. Thus, your visitors will see the following dropdown when selecting their size:
If you would like to change the order in the drop-down, you'll need to change the order of the values:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- Select the variation product that contains the values you would like to order.
- In the upper right corner, select Manage variations.
- You are prompted to the view Manage variations where you can see the attributes and corresponding values that you've entered when creating the variation product. Select the value you would like to move and drag and drop it to the desired position.
- In the lower right corner of the view, select OK.
- In the upper right corner of the page, select Save to save your changes.
The order of the values on the website has been changed.
Delete a value
Imagine you've already created a variation product for your T-shirt which is available in red and green. Furthermore, it is available in the sizes S, M, L, and XL. After some time you decide that you do not want to offer the size S anymore - neither in green nor in red. If you only want to stop selling these variations for a certain time period, you could set these variations as not available for purchase.
The same can be done if you would only like to stop selling the green T-Shirt in S but would like to continue selling the red T-Shirt in S. If you no longer want to offer the variation product in variations with size S at all, here's how to delete such a value from your variation product:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, select Products.
- Select the variation product that contains the value you would like to delete.
- In the upper right corner, select Manage variations.
- You are prompted to the view Manage variations where you can see the attributes and corresponding values that you've entered when creating the variation product.
- Select
next to the value you would like to delete.
Caution
Please note that deleting a value will delete all variations of this variation product with that value, including properties, prices, and images. In our example, the variations of the T-shirt S-green and S-red will be deleted, along with all pricing, inventory, images and other properties. This action cannot be reversed. - In the lower right corner of the view, select OK.
- In the upper right corner of the page, select Save to save your changes.
The value and its corresponding variations have been deleted.
