Depending on the goals you have for your website, preparing your product range can be an essential part of building your online business. Especially if you not only want to present your products, but also allow your visitors to order them on your website.

In this article, you'll learn how to add unique goods to your product range, for example a painting or a CD. To add goods that come in different variations, such as a T-Shirt that comes in different sizes and colors, you'll need to create a variation product.Skip to:
How to add a product
Before you can display products on your website, you'll need to add the products to your product range. Here's how:
- In the sidebar of your cockpit, navigate to Products.
- Select Add product in the top bar.
You are forwarded to the product settings page where you can configure your new product. - Configure your product. For further information regarding the different settings, refer to the section Overview of the different settings and the section Products in the help center.
Note
You can omit many input fields, as not every information is relevant for every product. To be able to save the product, you need to fill in at least the input fields Name and Price. These are also marked with an asterisk (*). - Select Draft (if you would like to save the product as a draft) or Published (if you would like to publish the product) in the top bar.
Note
Be aware that the product will be externally accessible, for example via Google, as soon as it has been published. It will also be directly visible on your website if it is part of a category that you already display on your website. If you do not want to publish your product immediately, refer to Learn about product drafts for further information. - Select Save.
You have added a new product.
Once you have saved your product, you can select in the top bar to directly add another product or a new variation product to your range.
To duplicate the product, select in the top bar. If you want to create several similar products, you can save time by using this button, as you don't have to make all the settings again.

Note
To allow for a faster navigation, all cards on the product settings page except the Basics card are collapsed by default. Select a card to expand it.The following settings are available:

Basics
Name
Enter a meaningful name that should be used for the product on your website. Put yourself in the shoes of a potential customer and ask yourself what they would be searching for when browsing the web.
Description
Describe your product in the best possible way and outline the unique selling points of your product. For example, if you sell books, mention the author(s), give a short content summary, and outline special features. Or if you sell home-made marmalade, let your visitors know about the production method, ingredients, allergens, or special properties.
The following formatting settings are available:

Add a link to the selected text. Enter the desired link in the field Paste or type a link:

Add a table. To add content to your table, simply select the desired cell and enter your text. For the texts in the table, you can also use the available formatting options. To add a row/column, select The first row is always slightly highlighted to mark it as a header. You can't delete this first row. This is why it makes sense to use it for labelling the individual columns. You can't adjust the size of the individual cells manually. The cells are automatically resized to match their content. Check the result in the preview of your website for each device to make sure that everything is displayed as intended. |
Generate/Optimize description with AI
You can automatically create product descriptions using AI-powered text generation. Simply provide the vital product details and the AI will work its magic to help you write the text. For further information, refer to Generate/Optimize your product descriptions with AI.
Images and video
Images
Showcase your product by adding meaningful and appealing product images. To add the first image, select Add image and browse through the image files on your device. You can also drag and drop a product image from your image files onto Add image. For further information on handling images, refer to Add product images and videos.
Video link
Add a video for your product. You can't directly upload a video in your cockpit. Instead, you need to upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and enter the link to the video in the product settings. For further information on handling videos, refer to Add product images and videos.
Pricing
Price
Enter the price that you're charging for the product. The currency will be set automatically from the underlying country settings of your website.
RRP
Enter the recommended retail price (RRP). This is also known as the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) and describes the price that the product's manufacturer recommends for the sale of the product. For further information, refer to Specify the recommended retail price (RRP).
Sale price
Use the sale price option to sell a product for a reduced price while still displaying the regular price. This way you can show your visitors that you've currently reduced the price for the product. For further information, refer to Set a sale price.
What your visitors see
Here you can see a preview of how the price will be displayed on your website according to your current price settings.
Calculate reference price & Product quantity
If you sell products that are available in different sizes or packages, you can indicate the price per unit compared to the total price. In many countries, it is even a legal requirement to display this reference price on your website. For further information, refer to Set a reference price.
Tax class
Select the product's tax class. You can select between Standard, Reduced and Tax-exempt.
Additional product descriptions
Add expandable product descriptions to provide additional product information (e.g. care instructions, ingredients, etc.) in a clearly structured form. For further information, refer to Add additional product descriptions.
Labels
Labels are displayed both on the product image on the product detail page and on the category page. The color of the labels is automatically set according to your color settings to create a harmonious design.
Add "CUSTOMIZABLE" label
Activate this checkbox to display a "CUSTOMIZABLE" label on the product image. This way, visitors can easily see which products are customizable, making it easier for them to find the product that best fits their needs. This option is only available if you have enabled customization for the product. For further information, refer to Offer customizable products.
Add "NEW" label
Activate this checkbox to display a "NEW" label on the product image. This way, visitors can easily see which products are new. This label is not automatically removed after a certain period of time. This is why you should regularly check whether the "NEW" label is still valid.
Product document
Product document (PDF)
Add a PDF file to provide additional information about this product (e.g. a manual, a product data sheet or a list of components). The file is displayed along with the price and other product details and can be downloaded by your visitors.
To add a product document, select Choose file and browse through the files on your device. You can only upload a document in PDF format with a size of max. of 100 MB. To remove the document again, select next to the file name.
Displayed name
Enter a name that should be displayed for the uploaded product document. Use a name that clearly describes the document so that your visitors know upfront what they are downloading. The name can be a maximum of 50 characters long. If you have uploaded a product document, this information is required.
Customization
Offer customization option
With this option enabled, a text field is displayed on the product page in which customers can enter a custom text. In addition, a "CUSTOMIZABLE" label is added to the product images (also see Labels). For further information, refer to Offer customizable products.
Essential product characteristics
Product characteristics
Add essential product characteristics that are shown in the checkout process, so that customers can make well-informed purchase decisions. This is legally required in some countries. For further information, refer to Add essential product characteristics.
Categories & tags
Tags
Tags are key words you can use to organize your products and to create automatic categories. You can add existing tags as well as new ones. For further information, refer to Discover tags.
Manual categories
Use manual categories to group individually selected products. You can add existing categories as well as new ones. For further information, refer to Add manual categories.
Automatic categories
The automatic categories shown in this list are automatically assigned to the product based on different criteria such as tags, price and manufacturer. For further information, refer to Add automatic categories.
Shipping & pickup
Shipping time
The shipping time is displayed on the product detail page. This allows visitors to see immediately how long it would take for the product to arrive. If you have also specified a pickup time for the product, it will be displayed directly below the shipping time. For further information, refer to Specify the delivery time for a product.
Ready for pickup in
The pickup time is displayed on the product detail page. This allows visitors to see immediately when a product will be ready for pickup. For further information, refer to Specify the pickup time for a product.
Shipping weight
Enter the weight of the product. This information is relevant if you want to offer a weight-based shipping price. For further information, refer to Set up weight-based shipping prices.
Inventory tracking
Manufacturer
Mark your products by adding the manufacturer, wholesaler, or other vendor to the product. This can help you manage your inventory and ordering new goods. For further information, refer to Add a manufacturer.
SKU (stock keeping unit)
A Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is an article or item number that uniquely identifies the product. This field is mandatory and will either be set by you or the SKU is generated automatically. For further Information, refer to Set your own Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).
Product codes (EAN, ISBN, UPC)
Product codes are e.g. European Article Number (EAN), Universal Product Code (UPC) and International Standard Book Number (ISBN). The code is not displayed on the website, but can be used by the visitor to search for a specific product. For further information, refer to Add product codes.
Track stock level
The stock level indicates how many items of a product you still have in stock. Keeping track of your inventory keeps you up to date about when you need to order or produce new goods and helps to avoid that customers order products that are no longer in stock. For further information, refer to Manage the inventory of a product.
Product is available for purchase
If your product is available for purchase, it will be displayed just like any other product. A product that is not available for purchase is displayed on your website, but can't be ordered. For further information, refer to Edit the purchasability of products.
Search engine entry
By default, the fields Page title and Meta description are empty. The software then uses the entries from the product name and description on the Basics card for SEO purposes. For further information refer to, Optimize the search results for your website.
Cross-selling
Show cross-selling options for this product
Cross-selling describes the sale of similar or complementary products. To promote these products, you can assign them to be displayed on other product pages. For further information, refer to Learn about cross-selling.
